V&A London, David Bowie is

This Saturday the hugely anticipated David Bowie is exhibition opens at the V&A in London. It has had a record breaking ticket pre-sales and the reviews are fantastic.

As a rather over excited official photographer I went in on Monday to capture the exhibition specifically focusing on the Environmental Graphic Design for studio HB http://www.studiohb.co.uk/ and for the other team members including AV Designers (Olympic Opening Ceremony & War Horse) 59 Productions http://59productions.co.uk/, 3D Designers Real Studios http://www.realstudios.co.uk/ and DHA Lighting Design http://www.dhadesigns.com/

The grey, orange and black colour palette is a fun and sophisticated nod to Bowie’s Ziggy days and the dramatic projections, sample objects and iconic costumes are a treat to soak up. So for those of you who don’t have an invite to the opening party or cant make it to London before the close in August, here is your own private view…..

….”its the best selling show..oh oh oh……”

The King’s Wark, Edinburgh

My interior photography portfolio is ever-growing as I recently decided to specialise in pub and restaurant imagery.  So I was delighted to shoot a series of images for Heineken’s Star Pubs internal pub guide. The document was being created specially to feature Edinburgh and London’s best pubs under the Star Pubs & Bars company owned by Heineken.

Some of the work shot in both capitals, features on my interiors page on my website, however there are a few favourites I plan to blog over the next few months as the interior design was so diverse and interesting and therefore an absolute joy to photograph. The King’s Wark was one of my favourites as it had a friendly and warm atmosphere and has won high acclaim for it’s creative and high quality food offering. It’s well worth a stop by if you happen to be near, so here is the link on google maps; https://maps.google.co.uk/maps?ie=UTF8&cid=14389855832584827095&q=Kings+Wark&iwloc=A&gl=GB&hl=en

Irwin Mitchell Xmas Client Event

Well I know all the festivities are over and we are scooting into 2013 with full throttle but I think this is a nice set of corporate event images worth showing off. The lovely staff at Irwin Mitchell created a really friendly and relaxed do at Northern Stage last month treating their clients to an alternative to the usual round tabled seated format. There was a magician, cartoonist, musicians, free flowing booze & food and of course a photographer capturing the night for them to view on the web this year.

The Kenilworth Hotel & Ru Bar, Jesmond, Newcastle

The Keniworth Hotel and Ru Bar were hit by the dreadful  North East floods last year and so have recently had a refurbishment. New images of the interiors were required to drum up business through their internet promotion.

Its a quirky and interesting victorian building with super friendly staff and cosy feel. It was a joy to meet the family who run it and was a lovely relaxed job. There were bags of shots from the day I spent there but there are a few which I felt reflected it’s character best. For anyone wanting to find out more or book, go to the Late Rooms website on http://www.laterooms.com/en/hotel-reservations/149576_kenilworth-hotel-newcastle-upon-tyne.aspx

More! Magazine’s Christmas in Newcastle

In the freezing cold last week Sam Sparks, my new assistant (cool name eh?) and I went in search of festive photography in Newcastle city centre. The brief from More! magazine was to find, ladies shopping between 18 & 25 and general shots of the Christmas markets & lights and picturesque areas of the town centre.

Despite the hurdles of ugly regeneration scaffolding at every turn and frozen fingers, so numb I found it difficult to control the camera, we captured some lovely sparkly Christmassy images. The issue is out this week and features a mix of my images with readers one too, including a truly hideous one my daughter Daisy supplied of us looking crazy with a snowman- thanks Daisy. Its clearly not always fab having a daughter working in publishing.
