Komatsu have a visitor in a Helicopter!

I just got back from a really fun shoot at Komatsu UK of a visiting client arriving by helicopter. Hugh of HE Services has his own mode of transport to their annual meeting held on the Komatsu site. I had gritty eyes and a dusty lens but got some fab results! Next there will be some wondrous photoshop work to place him above his team…. (health and safety said ‘NO’! to such a composition!) Watch this space!

And for a bit of helicopter trivia swiped from Wikipedia, the word helicopter is adapted from the French hélicoptère, coined by Gustave de Ponton d’Amecourt in 1861, which originates from the Greek helix/helik- (ἕλιξ) = “twisted, curved” and pteron (πτερόν) = “wing”. (well I am baffled…surely helicopters didn’t exist in 1861…..)

Komatsu machines in sparking silver

This week I visited the Komatsu plant to capture images for a library of paint colour options for their mobile digger machines. The sparkling metallic silver against the blue sky was a sight to behold!

My brief was to capture the thorough nature of the paintwork and to promote this to the Komatsu client base. It made an interesting change to the usual yellow branding. Apparently they come in any colour requested, even in melon twisting neon colours!
