Private Dining at As You Like It, Jesmond

Apartment Group’s bar and restaurant As You Like It in Newcastle is a rich and colourful environment to capture. The bar and restaurant interiors are a photographer’s dream with the textures of rich fabrics and low lighting. The images were required for their private dining area for future marketing material for weddings and private dining functions. The brief was to use my creative eye to show it off to it’s best with atmospheric, illustrative interior design photography. Whilst the rich velvet curtains gave a cosy feel there is an escape to a private veranda for an exhilarating and elevated view over Jesmond.

Whilst this shoot was enjoyable, technically it was tricky as the low light required a slow shutter speed and the use of a tripod restricted the angles to shoot from but the colours of the dusk light and the interior design resulted in some great shots as you can see below….

Sir John Fitzgerald Pubs, The Bridge Hotel, Newcastle

Whilst my pub photography is mainly for Heineken’s Star Pubs & Bars internal marketing, I recently worked with MBL Solutions who were re-branding for Sir John Fitzgerald pubs. Their portfolio of North East pubs and bars needed to be captured for their new website. The brief was similar to those of the Star Pubs refurbishments, capturing a range of elements that highlight the character, interior and offerings of the pub. I creatively captured the beautiful wooden structures, the vast Victorian bar and the friendly staff along with other features that caught my eye showing this traditional pub off to its best.

Aiden Byrne’s Church Green, Cheshire

Nestled in Lymm, a gorgeous little village in Cheshire there is a fantastic award winning AA Restaurant of the YearÂ Heineken pub which boasts the fantastic menus created by Aiden Byrne. You may have been watching The Great British Menu series on BBC2 recently and this week it has seen competing chef Aiden making it though to the Comic Relief finals. These shots were taken for a Heineken article highlighting this particular pub and the success of Aiden and his lovely wife Sarah as the lessees. They have won countless awards for the food at the Church Green and now Aiden has gone on to open a new restaurant in Manchester that will be televised on the BBC later this year. Ernest Launch Night in the Ouseburn Newcastle

Yum Yum, well that pretty much sums up the interior, the food, the drinks and the delightful service from those fab folk at Ernest eatery in Newcastle. The launch night attracted those who were inquisitive and full of anticipation and tickets were limited. It was a relaxed and fun evening with a gorgeous spread of complimentary ‘tasters’ and beautiful cocktails amongst a comfortable interior that has a unique warm glow.

I captured the evening in a colourful style to reflect the atmosphere of the venue and various groups of happy guests. Its well worth a visit whether you are gagging for a coffee fix by day (fantastic coffee provided by the Ouseburn Coffee Company atÂ http://ouseburncoffee.wordpress.com/) or a slap up meal in the eve (amazing chef Ross will delight your tastebuds!) you won’t be disappointed!
